I finished the short story for today! It's messy and rough around the edges, but I'm excited with what I came up with (and am definitely interested in digging in to it for novel material later). Here's the pitch:
In a war-torn world where abandoned girls are taken to the Abbey for sword training, two best friends must fight to the death where only one of them will join the outside world, becoming a warrior princess.
